WELCOME TO MIRANDA MAGPIES FOOTBALL CLUB!

Vale - Bob Rivett

An Icon of Miranda Magpies Football Club

AUGUST 21ST 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Rivett, a beloved member of our Sutherland Shire football community and the Sutherland Shire Football Association.

Bob's journey in football began in 1984 with the Miranda Magpies Football Club, where he dedicated decades to the sport as a coach, manager, and committee member. His commitment to the Miranda Magpies was honoured with life membership in 1995. In 2008, the Miranda Magpies established a perpetual trophy in his name for "Services to Football," reflecting his lasting impact.

Bob's influence extended to the SSFA, where he joined the committee as Association Registrar in 2004 and served as Vice President from 2005 to 2008, and again from 2011 to 2012. His leadership, passion, and tireless work were evident in his role as chair of the Disciplinary Committee and as a key liaison between the Executive and Coaches Committee. Bob was also instrumental in organizing social events that strengthened the sense of community within the SSFA.

In 2008, when the role of Operations Officer became vacant, Bob once again stepped up, volunteering his time to ensure the success of our competitions and the support of our representative teams. His presence at Harrie Dening fields and throughout the community was a source of inspiration and respect.

Bob continued to serve on the SSFA Executive Committee from 2009 to 2013.

Bob's exceptional contributions were recognised with the FNSW State Award in 2010, and in 2013, he was awarded SSFA Life Membership—a testament to the profound impact he had on our football family.

Bob Rivett’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the community he helped build. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Bob. Your passion, dedication, and spirit will forever be a part of the Sutherland Shire Football Association and the broader football community.
